Called “a master of free verse” in the Boston Globe, Peter Gallway has released more than twenty-five albums on Warner/Reprise and various independent labels. A founding member of The Fifth Avenue Band, albums have spanned styles from ‘60’s rock and roll, to “jazzy folk”, to atmospheric Americana. Along with his solo recordings, he has collaborated with acclaimed singer-songwriter Annie Gallup in the duo Hat Check Girl, and with British keyboardist Harvey Jones, as Parker Gray.
Peter Gallway has produced over fifty albums and special projects, such as the Grammy nominated Bleecker Street: Greenwich Village in the ‘60s, and Time and Love: The Music of Laura Nyro, and participated in Laura Nyro’s final album, Angel In the Dark. He has also produced projects for singer/songwriters Cliff Eberhardt, Annie Gallup, Louise Taylor, Aztec Two-Step, Wendy Beckerman, and Japan’s Bread and Butter, to name a few. He has had his music featured in film and theater and has had songs performed and recorded by Bette Midler, Kenny Rogers, Cliff Eberhardt, Bread & Butter, Kalapana and others.
“These romantic and heartfelt songs together with Peter Gallway’s great voice remind me of Ron Sexsmith and the work of the late Warren Zevon. Let that be a great compliment.”
“Gallway sees the world through seasoned eyes and delivers a gritty look at American life from unexpected angles. This album has given me hope for singer/songwriters in America. It’s that good.”
“Stylistically, it’s hard to classify singer/songwriter Peter Gallway; his music veers from sort-of-folk to sort-of-jazz-pop to sort-of-lots-of-other-things, including a blue collar observational lyrical style inspired by Raymond Carver.”
